Ihsan Khan, 2006 Recipient The first Damian Mills Junior Cricket Award was presented to Ihsan Khan on September 29, 2006 at the Breezy Bend Country Club. The event was well attended by cricketers, friends and family. Local stand-up comedian Dan Licoppe kept the audience laughing as he shared his limited but funny knowledge of the game. He assured us that he will show up next year at Assiniboine park with a painted-on white sweater vest emulating his favourite cricketer. He proved his knowledge speaking of the greatest batsman ‘Sir Don Bradford’, whomever that may be. Chris Emery, chairman on the Damian Mills Junior Cricket Foundation, welcomed everyone and pointed out how exciting it is to get to this point of giving out the first award. John Lovelace, president of the Manitoba Cricket Association, congratulated the Foundation on getting to this point and spoke of the partnership that exists between the MCA and the Foundation. Ray Ramrattan, vice-chairman of the Foundation, highlighted the purpose of the award tying it closely to how Damian approached and played the game. Barry, Rona and Cresida Mills then presented Ihan Khan with the Award, a commemorative plaque, a bat and $1500.00 to be spent over the next 2 years on his personal development in the game. The bat was custom made and donated by Mark Warburton from Zoom Bats in Aurora, Ontario.
